Liberty Building Systems Unveils New National Business Model

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Sept. 10, 2008 - Memphis-based Liberty™ Building Systems has announced the company will pursue a new national business model as part of parent BlueScope Steel’s expansion of it’s North American infrastructure.

Currently, Liberty’s metal buildings are produced in one manufacturing location and distribution occurs at a regional level. The new business model will enable Liberty to manufacture products in multiple BlueScope Steel-owned facilities across the United States. Also, Liberty’s line of cost effective metal buildings will be available to builders nationally.

“We’ve transformed our company’s focus overnight and we couldn’t be more excited about what the future holds,” said Matt Threadgill, general manager for Liberty Building Systems. “Liberty’s customers will greatly benefit from this strategic move in the form of expanded nationwide coverage, lower transportation costs and closer access to key markets across the nation.”

Additionally, Liberty has updated its product line to maximize this new opportunity on a national scale. New product details will be announced in the coming weeks.

As part of the transformation to a national framework, BlueScope Steel North America recently announced the closure of Liberty’s manufacturing plant located in Selmer, Tenn. Liberty will continue to maintain its cost-effective manufacturing model by producing buildings within other BlueScope Steel manufacturing facilities across North America.

Liberty’s corporate, engineering, estimating, sales, project management and customer service offices previously located in Bartlett, Tenn., were relocated to a BlueScope Steel-owned office location in Memphis, Tenn., in late July 2008.
