MEMPHIS, Tenn., October 30, 2008 – Established in 1947 as a single store in Coldwater, Miss., Fred’s has expanded into a popular retail chain with 71 stores covering 15 states throughout the Southeast. Fred’s a low-cost retail chain, opened 35 stores in 2007. One of those recent additions was its 16,000-sq.-ft store and “drive-thru” pharmacy in Dresden, Tenn.
Construction was completed in the spring of 2007 under the supervision of the Perkins Corporation, McKenzie, Tenn., which acted as developer and general contractor on the project. Memphis-based Liberty Building Systems, a national manufacturer of metal building systems that has worked with multiple retail chains, supplied the Harbor Blue standing seam roof on the canopy and the Ash Gray LibertyRib™ parapet for the building’s entrance. The metal parapet was combined with split-face block for an aesthetically pleasing appearance. LibertyRib was also used on the sidewalls in an Ash Gray FreedomCote™ finish. Liberty’s FreedomRib™ liner panel in polar white was used in the store’s interior. A 210-sq.-ft. truck dock canopy with a Galvalume LibertyRib roof was constructed behind the store.
