BARTLETT, Tenn., April 1, 2008 - The building committee for Arbor Community Church interviewed several contractors and their proposals before selecting BC Builders of Battle Creek, Nebraska, to build their new sanctuary expansion. The congregation in York, Nebraska was impressed by the design, land use recommendation for the site and the firm cost offered to execute its program using metal building systems. BC Builders has built numerous other churches in the area and applied design/build project delivery with architectural services provided by Architects Plus, Faribault, Minnesota.
Liberty Building Systems, Bartlett, Tennessee supplied the 10,400-sq.-ft. project framed in three spatial units, 16’ x 74’, 66’ x 95’ and 32’ x 94’, with a standing seam metal roof and texture-finished metal wall panels with masonry and glass accents. In the current configuration, the addition provides pew seating for 350 members in the sanctuary and two classrooms. Audio-visual equipment is isolated in a control area. Future expansion could occur off one side. A spine connects the building to the former facilities now dedicated to a chapel, nursery, classrooms and a youth church.
Founded more than 40 years ago, Arbor Community Church has the largest Baptist congregation in the northeastern Nebraska town. The building program is a lasting legacy of Reverent Keith Bateman, the recently retired pastor for the past ten years who previously served as a missionary in Africa.
