BARTLETT, Tenn., March 30, 2008 - Small congregations that embark on building programs require maximum value from their limited budgets. This was the case of West Humboldt Church of Christ in Humboldt, Tenn. With their former facility in bad condition, the small congregation needed a new home for Sunday services. Another church of the same denomination in Humboldt offered to help them raise the money to get started. A combined group of congregants hand-addressed mailings to churches across the United States, which brought in approximately $35,000, enough to qualify for a construction loan.
After visiting new churches elsewhere, Reverend Mozell House and his building committee favored a metal building as offering “the most economy, strength of construction and value,” he said. The project’s contractor, Gage Construction, of Union City, Tenn., worked with Bartlett, Tenn.-based Liberty Building Systems to acquire the materials solution for the design which features a clear-span interior, drive-up canopy at the entrance and provisions future expansion.
The 6,000-sq.-ft. church features LibertyRib™ roof and wall panels with a FreedomCote™ silicone polyester finish in a light stone color with polar white trim which complements the prefabricated steeple. The plan provides office space, main sanctuary, a comfortable glass-walled vestibule area and restrooms. Construction took just seven months.
I was impressed with the service and the product,” Reverend House noted. “My experience was definitely a good one.”
